The Oasis Institute has received a second five-year cooperative agreement from the U.S. Administration for Community Living/Administration on Aging (ACL/AoA) to implement the Volunteer Community Care Corps. This program, called Community Care Corps, is administered by Oasis in cooperation with USAging and Caregiver Action Network with Altarum, a nonprofit research and consulting organization, providing program evaluation and consultation.
Through an independent review committee and a competitive grant-award process, the Community Care Corps administrators will distribute funds to foster the development, expansion and refinement of innovative volunteer nonmedical assistance models which support older adults, people with disabilities age 18 and older, and their family caregivers.
The goal of Community Care Corps is to increase the number of community-based volunteer programs available to provide its target populations with nonmedical assistance to maintain independence in the community while decreasing the number of older adults, persons with disabilities age 18 and older, and family caregivers who need assistance in maintaining independence in the community but are unable to obtain help.
